Birtwhistle Street, Gatehouse of Fleet

Built in c.1800, Birtwhistle Street was built specifically as a series of ‘outworker cottages’ associated with the ‘Mill on the Fleet’ Cotton Mill. The living space was located on the ground floor in each cottage with the 1st floor designed as working space for the ‘outworkers’.
